FAQ

Who can participate?

Anyone currently enrolled at San Jose State University.

What if I don’t have a team or idea?

Don’t worry! You will have an opportunity to form a team and brainstorm ideas the day of the event. We also hope the themes we have selected help guide you. Furthermore, there will be mentors walking around that will help provide feedback and guidance along the way.
If you need further assistance forming a team please come visit us at the IDEA Lab located inside the Student Union or email us at contact@ideassjsu.org.

What should I bring?

Please bring a laptop and your SJSU student ID. Food will be provided.

Is this event free?

Absolutely!

Will there be prizes?

Every theme will have a winner who will then compete for the overall grand prize. All theme winners will automatically receive the opportunity to join the yearlong IDEAS accelerator program.

What are the theme categories?

Augmented reality and virtual reality, civic technology, IoT and wild card. Teams whose project does not fall into the first three categories will automatically be entered into the wild card theme.

What are the requirements?

Teams must have a minimum of four and a maximum of six students. Additionally, all teams are required to have students from at least two different colleges and of two different concentration―no exceptions.
Students may participate with an existing team, or build teams at the event.

Who do I contact if I have more questions?
